Jabal Sawda and Masmak Fortress

Jabal Sawda (Jabal Al Soodah) is quite possibly the most noticeable milestones in Saudi Arabia and spot to visit in Abha, as it denotes the country's most noteworthy pinnacle. The mountain stands just shy of 10,000 feet in beautiful Al Soudah National Park, an incredible spot for climbing in the Kingdom. Travelers who don't want to journey to the top can board a trolley in Abha or on the north side of Al Soudah National Park.


A tremendous mud and mud-block fortress that saw the introduction of a realm, Al Masmak - the word implies a high, solid and thick structure - fills in as a pleased token of Saudi Arabia's celebrated history. In 1902, King Abdulaziz caught the post and assumed command over Riyadh (his familial home) in the wake of having resided far away, banished for good in Kuwait. Masmak Fortress

Masmak Fortress can be tracked down only a short drive south of Murabba Historical Palace. The previous post which once safeguarded the city is well known for its mud-block and earth outside. The huge complex later filled in as a storage facility for ammo, and after a 1902 attack by Ibn Saud, the fortification was utilized as a jail.
