We are beyond thrilled that the Oppo Find N5 has arrived. This is the foldable that promises to be revolutionary, or failing that, at least majorly evolutionary for the entire form factor. Indeed, even at first glance, it is striking just how thin this phone is. Oppo has pulled out some true technical wizardly on this one.
In addition, despite its thinness, the body feels very strong and solid, with almost no flex. The same goes for the hinge, which is confidence-inspiring.
Under the hood lies a premium new Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset (7-core variant), accompanied by 16GB of RAM and up to a whopping 1TB of storage. A 50MP main camera, a 50MP periscope-style telephoto, and an autofocusing 8MP ultrawide round out the impressive camera system. Additionally, you can take two 8MP selfies, one on the inside and one on the cover display.
The Find N5 from Oppo has a massive 5,600 mAh battery inside, and it can be charged at speeds of 80W with wired charging and 50W with wireless charging. The phone's entire body is also nicely watertight with an IPX8/IPX9 ingress protection rating.
The Oppo Find N5's most notable feature is undoubtedly its stunning design. The phone is extremely thin, first and foremost. We believe it is the thinnest foldable to date. It only measures 8.93 mm and just 4.21mm when closed. That is insanely thin. While closed, the Find N5 feels like a regular "slab" phone, perhaps with a case on and when open, it is in a league of its own.
The Find N5 feels very solid and well-made despite its thin profile. The body has virtually no flex and no hollowness either. The hinge is a true engineering masterpiece. It is called a Titanium Flexion Hinge, and Oppo is marketing it as having a 26% smaller size and 36% superior rigidity.

We aren't sure exactly what these numbers are based on and what Oppo is comparing to, but the hinge is very impressive. It offers a smooth motion with equal tension and a satisfying snap at both ends. It also lays out the display impressively flat with a minimal crease.
Speaking of the display crease, it really is very hard to spot. It is not impossible; it is still very much there and can be felt with a finger. But Oppo has done a fantastic job of reducing it in every way possible. It is said to be 10% narrower and 50% shallower, according to the official claim. Circling back to construction and materials, the phone is decently light for this form factor, tipping the scale at 229 grams.
Yet, there is no shortage of premium materials in its build. The bigger chink of the phone's body and frame is made from 7000 series aluminum and carbon fiber. The outside display is protected by a nanocrystal glass that promises to be 20% stronger. With a stronger anti-shock film, the inner display is also stronger (70%).
The Find N5 has a pretty standard button layout when folded. You get a volume rocker and a power button/fingerprint reader combo on the right-hand side. These are convenient enough to use but are a bit high up on the frame, which is our biggest complaint. You also get an alert slider, which ends up on the right-hand side next to the volume rocker when the phone is closed.
Around either the inner display or the cover screen, there are no discernible sensors. The sensors are hidden away underneath the panels. As would be expected of a good foldable, both displays include a light and proximity sensor.
