Razrs aplenty, more so in the US than anywhere else. Another Motorola clamshell foldable, the Razr+ 2025 is a middle ground between the basic model and the high-end Ultra. This particular model is seemingly a US-exclusive - not even Motorola Canada appears to be selling it. Both the US and Canada are getting the plain Razr 2025 and the Razr 2025 Ultra, so there's no shortage of North American Razrs. This year, there's no direct international counterpart to this Razr+ - the non-plus and the Ultra have their Razr 60 alter egos.

That said, it's worth keeping in mind that the Razr+ 2025 is in many ways the same phone as the Razr+ 2024, which, in turn, is the North American version of the Razr 50 Ultra (reviewed here). We'll be coming back to these comparisons along the way, as well as when we get to decision-making time.

The Razr+ 2025, the middle option in the lineup, has a more powerful chipset than the vanilla model, but it does not have the Ultra's current flagship Snapdragon. Another in-between solution can be seen in the displays: the main one looks almost exactly like the vanilla model, and the cover one looks like the Ultra. The camera system is another area where the plus is bridging the gap, relying on the same main camera as the Razr 2025, but paired with a telephoto instead of an ultrawide - the Ultra makes do without a zoom camera, but features nicer main and ultrawide modules.

During our recent visit with the Razr 2025, we speculated that it was actually the Razr 2024 in new colors. Well... Even the colors of the Razr+ 2025 do not change. Some of last year's color options are not carried forward though.

The new model carries an IP48 rating for dust and water resistance, while the 2024 one was only labeled IPX8. So the water resistance has remained unchanged, but the new Plus is now safe against solid particles larger than 1mm entering its insides... which we feel the previous model would have easily kept out too.

Motorola says they've reinforced the hinge with titanium this time around, while previously they only talked about stainless steel. We're not sure where marketing talk meets reality, exactly, but it all feels reassuringly sturdy (just like last year).

The hinge can remain open in intermediate states, of course, and it also snaps positively at both extremes. The frame is made of 6000-series aluminum that's treated to a glossy finish, while the cover screen is protected with Gorilla Glass Victus.

That cover screen is what sets the Plus apart from the vanilla model. This more upmarket Razr has (almost) the entire top half covered with display, while the lower model has a strip of plastic to indicate that you didn't want to splurge. Both have the googly eyes camera cutouts, of course.

On the inside, there's not a lot to split the two Razrs. The 6.9-inch foldable OLED display of the Razr+ 2025 is physically the same as that on the Razr 2025, and they both lie nicely flat when unfolded. There's a minor waviness in the middle, but as we've come to expect from Moto clamshells, it's nowhere near being sharp or jarring, or anything.

The power button is home to the capacitive fingerprint reader, which we found to be responsive and dependable even when operating it with the left index finger. In settings, you can choose whether you'd want it to require a click to engage or work with just a tap.
