Since its global launch a few months ago, the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro has quickly become the go-to tablet due to its flagship specs and numerous optional accessories. The best part is that the price is half of what Apple charges for a slate of the same category.
Although the Pad 6 Pro was not released globally, the Pad 7 Pro is technically a sequel to it. Instead, we got the Pad 6S Pro, a slightly upgraded version of the 6 Pro with a larger screen, more speakers, and faster processor.
The Pad 7 Pro features a large 11.2-inch IPS LCD screen with HDR10 and Dolby Vision streaming support, a higher resolution of 3,200 x 2,136 pixels, a 12-bit color depth, and a refresh rate of 144 Hz. Xiaomi Focus Pen is also supported - that is the latest generation of the proprietary stylus.
Since the Pad 6 series, the design of the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro has remained unchanged. We appreciate the no-nonsense looks with the metal chassis and its flat sides.
The back panel of the Pad 7 Pro is made of aluminum and has a glass front and sides (unibody). Additionally, there is a version with a matte display glass that improves sunlight legibility, reduces reflections, and provides a paper-like writing experience when using the Focus Pen.

The matte glass model is only available in select markets, and if it is, you can only buy it in Gray with 512GB of storage space and 12GB of RAM for €150 more than the standard model. The screen bezels are around 8mm thick, so there is enough room to rest your fingers, and plenty of space for the 32MP front camera and a bunch of sensors (ambient light, proximity for accessories).
The back side has pogo pins for the keyboard accessories next to the logo and this giant camera housing that accommodates the 50MP primary, the 2MP depth sensor, the IR blaster, and a small LED flash. We can imagine that only the high-res camera needed such enclosure and the rest is just there for aesthetic symmetry.
Also on the short sides, you can spot a microphone and the power/lock key, which also incorporates an always-on fingerprint scanner. One of the longer sides is completely bare, while the other one has two symmetrical microphones, the volume keys, and the magnetic holder/charger for the optional Xiaomi Focus Pen.
For an 11-inch tablet, the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro weighs 500 grams and has dimensions of 251.2 x 173.4 x 6.2 mm. We are quite happy with the Xiaomi Pad 7 Pro - it's a solid tablet with a fingerprint-resistant metal shell, good grip and comfortable shape. Additionally, the manufacturer provides numerous optional accessories, which we will examine in a moment.
